Back when i lived in MI, in high school, and a few years after, i had a ton of friends.. it seems like i was always out somewhere with them.. hanging out with Steve mostly, or Britt, or Bubba... I was active in church, playing guitar for the 180 praise band every week, or for church at Living Water.. it was awesome.
For the past few years however, i find it hard to make new friends.. I dont really know why, if i changed, or if somethings just wrong with me.. I just have a hard time forcing myself to be social with people.. not just new people, all people.. i feel nervous, or think they dont want to talk to me.. even if i do talk to someone, i dont have anything to say.. my life is pretty boring.. go to work, come home, play guitar, go to bed.. sometimes i sit on my computer waiting for some of my old friends to come on AIM, but nobody uses it anymore.. i just feel lonely and out of place..
there are a ton of people around me too.. i have three roommates who are pretty fun to be around, lots of like minded guitar players at work.. i just dont have anything to say to anybody, really.. it doesnt make sense why i am this way..
Lauren is the only person i feel like i can talk to... though i really dont say a whole lot to her either.. I love her, and she loves me and thats just enough for me to not go crazy..
peace

I have struggled with what to say to people a lot over the years. Something I learned from my wife is that you can simply ask questions to keep a conversation going. Ask people about themselves and let them think of something to say, that way you don't have to so much. How's work? How's it going? Who you dating? What's your favorite movie? Why did you like it? --- you could go on a long time with some good questions, you learn about other people, discover what you have in common and then that gives you a little more to talk about. 0-0 that's my 2 cents worth, anyway. miss you man. hope all is well. peace.
ReplyDeleteHe's right, absolutely, tell yourself "I can talk to a brick wall." Pretty soon, you can.
ReplyDeleteLook for some little things to blog about and find some bloggers who want to play guitar. You can do it. You just need to learn to approach it.
maybe you just need to have the confidence in yourself again.... if there is one thing i remember about you, its that you were very friendly and everyone liked you.. Maybe what happened, is when you went to Maryland it was just hard keeping the same kind of relationship with your friends, and therefor the closeness didn't seem the same, and now you feel like you cant have that again... maybe? also, i agree with the other comments on here, they are very right... and i know you can easily talk to anyone, you just need to have the confidence in yourself and remember that you are interesting, fun, nice, friendly and who wouldn't want to talk to you or be your friend? ;) ... Hope this helps a little... Its just hard seeing people I've known go through things like this and i feel like i cant do anything to help, so i hope this helps :) also, I've been there myself, but it was on my own account - i lost confidence in myself at one point. although i don't live 10 hours away, i do live 2 hours away, and thats enough to where i cant see anyone anymore - especially since im so busy working and in school.. but ive learned that times will come and go and come and go that i will see my friends, not as often as i would like, but i will - and i just had to realize that its all on my terms, either i can sit here and be sad about it, or i can re-gain confidence in myself and let it happen... everything happens for a reason, and soon enough you will have relationships with friends and be able to talk about everything and you will be happy - you want it obviously, so you'll get there :) .... And if im way off here, and you think that you have enough confidence and that's not whats stopping you - then whatever it is, i hope that you get things figured out and one day soon find yourself in a much better state of mind.... wishing you happiness and good luck, Carrie
